Gazing across the desolate yard 
The broken windows speak 
Of a time that is bygone, a curtain-less view 
Of lives banished and bleak 

Were there birthdays, and romance 
Laughter and balloons 
Was there sorrow…

A THOUSAND PAPER CRANES

You hitchhiked out one day on the tracks of life 
Left behind history, structure, belief 
Found a camp with other stragglers 
Backpacks and shoes and society's travelers 
Lost in the wood, old growth in your eyes …

That moment of inspiration – like a small spark. 
Sometimes it flares immediately, with glorious quick flashes of blue and green. 
Sometimes it lingers, burning slowly – a candle with a short wick, unknown whether the wax will eventually pool…

Measured Time – it allows humans to be efficient and productive, to travel and communicate and to have global economies. 
But it also separates us from our natural sense of the world. We rely on our phones, clocks, and watches…
