that girl from nebraska
I am of pioneer blood - an immigrant, a refugee, a farmer, a poet.
The summer skies, heavy with dust and humidity, electricity connecting the horizon.
The winter skies, grey with wind and barrenness, brilliant sunlight cutting the bitter cold .
This is my Nebraska heritage.
I have travelled, lingered, and lived in other cities and countries, but like the prairie sunflowers, my roots run deep to the source.
My songs and poems are not of Nebraska, but they are of me.
And I will always be: That Girl from Nebraska
